SUPPORT ST. JOHN'S BREADLINE

How to help

The St. John's Breadline of Springfield is an affiliate of Catholic Charities. It serves a hot, nutritious meal to the hungry men, women and children of Springfield in a clean and positive environment. Without these accessible meals, these men & women would spend too much time seeking food security rather than finding jobs, getting an education, or being an integral part of the community. The breadline serves over 200,000 meals per year

Your presence at the Esper Figueras Memorial Golf outing helps to support this worthy cause. We are approved as an official non-for-profit 501c3 organization by the IRS. Our last outing held on July 13th,2024  raised $8200 for the breadline!!

July 12th, 2025

This year's outing was held on Saturday July 12th at Lincoln Greens Golf Course in Springfield, IL. Thank you to all who donated and joined us for a day of food, fun and golf! We all had an amazing time raising money for St. John's Breadline and remembering our dear Esper Figueras.

Everyone was praying that the rain would hold off and many were hoping it would not be a scorcher like the previous days…God answered our prayers! It was cool and cloudy in the morning but extremely refreshing and comfortable to play golf, then by the afternoon the sun came out to display a gorgeous day. About 90 golfers signed up for this year's outing. A delicious lunch of brats, hot dogs & chips was provided by St. John's Breadline. Thank you to Susan Moss, star of the Springfield Muni Opera who sang The Star Spangled Banner so beautifully!

Congratulations to the winners of the golf challenges who took home $50 gift cards from KM Hair Works, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Chick-Fil-A and GoPlayGolf.

Congratulations to all the winners of the door prizes, of which were donated by Kevin Burke and the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Assn, St John's Breadline and Janet Rentschler.  A special thank you to our Event Sponsors Joe & Julie Figueras, The Lawinger Family and Collins & Mary Ann Piper. Another special thank you to Andy Keefner for donating a Snoop Dog Corona Bobblehead Figurine which is currently on eBay for auction by the Matoon Catholic Charities location until Aug 1. It has a starting bid of $500. Eighty percent of the proceeds of this collector’s item will go towards our outing.
